Government assignments

At the end of each year, the Government of Sweden issues the Swedish Chemicals Agency with a letter of appropriation. The appropriation sets out our obligations for the upcoming year in relation to the targets we are set to achieve, our assignments and allocations, and our reporting guidelines. We are also given assignments outside the framework of this appropriation.
Assignment in simplifying our legislation for companies
The Swedish Chemicals Agency is to review and simplify our legislation and general advice and submit proposals for simplification of laws and regulations within our field of activity. The aim is to reduce the regulatory burden on businesses. Ten other authorities have also been given the same task. The authorities must submit a final report by 15 March 2026.
Assignment to assist the Swedish Environmental Objectives Council
The Swedish Chemicals Agency is one of the authorities tasked with assisting the Swedish Environmental Objectives Council and its work with the environmental objectives system in Sweden. The assignment runs until 6 May 2026.
