Indonesia

The Swedish Chemicals Agency has previously collaborated with Indonesia, although cooperation has been low in intensity in recent years. Contact has now been re-established, and there is a mutual interest in relaunching the collaboration.

Within the framework of this renewed cooperation, several activities are currently under consideration. These may include providing support to the Ministry of Environment in integrating risk assessment requirements into the chemical legislation currently being updated in Indonesia, with much of this work potentially carried out digitally. There are also plans to explore an on-site training initiative in Indonesia for staff at the Ministry of Environment, focusing on risk assessment methodologies, with the aim of exchanging experiences and strengthening their capacity to apply different methods and models in chemical risk assessment. Such efforts would contribute to ongoing work to improve chemicals management in the country.

The collaboration is funded by the Swedish Government via the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency.
