Assignment to propose regulatory changes for the implementation of the EU Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability
The assignment was reported to the Swedish government in September 2024. The Swedish Chemicals Agency has proposed significant changes to the REACH Regulation, the EU legislation on the registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction of chemicals. The proposed changes are motivated by the commitments in the EU Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability. During the assignment, the Swedish Chemicals Agency has engaged in dialogue with other authorities and sought dialogue and cooperation with chemical authorities in other countries.
Proposal for implementation of rules on registration of plant protection product use
The assignment was reported to the Government Offices (Ministry of Climate and Business Affairs) in October 2024. The assignment was carried out in collaboration with the Swedish Board of Agriculture and in dialogue with other stakeholders. The assignment included developing proposals for different options for introducing rules on the registration of the use of plant protection products and submitting proposals for systems for collecting information that are easy to use and make it easy for the user to do the right thing. The report also included an assessment of the economic impact on the companies concerned and the impact of the proposals on the resource needs of the authorities.
Assignment to analyse the consequences of decisions on a new global framework for chemicals and waste
The assignment was reported to the Swedish government in October 2024. The Swedish Chemicals Agency reported an analysis of the conditions for contributing in Sweden and the EU to achieving the objectives of the new global framework on chemicals, including the strategic objectives and interim objectives decided by the Fifth International Conference on Chemicals Management. This was done in dialogue with the Swedish EPA and other relevant stakeholders. The Swedish Chemicals Agency has also submitted proposals for measures on how Sweden can contribute to the continued work.
