The PRIO tool has been updated with new criteria

Two new criteria have been introduced in PRIO and three existing criteria have been updated. The new and updated criteria in PRIO are a consequence of the four new hazard classes being adopted and implemented in the CLP regulation. The changes mean that more substances with environmental and health hazards are covered by the criteria in PRIO and several new substances have been added to the database.

Two new criteria

  • PMT/vPvM - substances that are persistent, mobile and toxic or very persistent and very mobile at the phase-out substance level
  • Potential endocrine disrupting – substances that are suspected endocrine disruptors for human health or the environment at the priority risk-reduction substance level

Changes to three existing criteria

  • PBT/vPvB – substances that are persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic or very persistent and very bioaccumulative at the phase-out substance level
  • Potential PBT/vPvB - substances that are suspected to be persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic or very persistent and very bioaccumulative at the priority risk-reduction substance level
  • Endocrine disrupting – substances that are endocrine disruptors for human health or the environment at the phase-out substance level
