This study investigated the connection between the biocide release rates from antifouling paint and the efficacy of the paint in different marine areas. The purpose was to identify the minimum effective biocide concentration in antifouling paints in different marine regions in the EU.

A revision of the CLP Regulation was adopted in 2024. The revision introduces new provisions regarding the placing on the market of substances and mixtures. New requirements are introduced regarding the classification and labelling of substances and mixtures, as well as the possibility of providing substances and mixtures via filling stations. Another example is that amendments are made regarding advertising and distance selling. The revised regulation entered into force on 10 December 2024. The Government has commissioned the Swedish Chemicals Agency to analyse and propose necessary legislative amendments because of the revision of the CLP Regulation.
