PRIO has been updated to reflect the decisions of the Stockholm Convention

In May 2025, a decision was taken by the Parties to the Stockholm Convention to list two additional groups of substances and one substance on the list for global phase-out. As a result, we have updated the PRIO database.

The new substances are:

  • Chlorpyrifos (CAS number: 2921-88-2, EC number: 220-864-4)
  • Medium-chain chlorinated paraffins, MCCP (several CAS/EC numbers)
  • Long-chain perfluorocarboxylic acids, their salts and related substances (several CAS/EC numbers)

Previously, Chlorpyrifos was covered in PRIO by the criterion for potential PBT/vPvB. We have now updated to PBT/vPvB in the database, at the priority level phase-out substance with the reference Stockholm Convention.

MCCPs (C14-C17) identified as SVHC substances and included in the candidate list in the REACH Regulation (EC No 1907/2006) have been included in the PRIO database before. We have now added additional MCCP substances with the reference Stockholm Convention.

Substances in the group of long-chain perfluorocarboxylic acids, their salts and related compounds are already included in the PRIO database as phase-out substances. When the convention's example list becomes available, we will add the reference Stockholm Convention to these substances in the database.
