The tinorganic stabilisers that are considered to be the most dangerous for the environment should be phased out rapidly according to Government Bill 1997/98:145.

The graph shows the turnover of all tinorganic compounds. They are primarily used as stabilisers in plastics. Other applications are within various processes.

The use of tributyl tin as a biocid has ceased. Other  tinorganic compounds are mainly used as stabilisers in plastic.

Tributyltin compounds were used in less than 100 kg during 2010. From 2004 use of dibutyltin compounds has decreased to a third by 2010. The amount of mono and dioctyltin compounds and monobutyltin compounds has increased since 2004 as has the use of other tin-organic substances.
