Rules for Plant Protection Products

The purpose of the Plant Protection Product Regulation is to ensure a high level of protection of both human and animal health and the environment and at the same time to improve the functioning of the internal market through the harmonisation of the rules on the placing on the market of plant protection products, while improving agricultural production.

Regulation amends the Plant Protection Products Regulation

A regulation on EU fertilising products, Regulation (EU) 2019/1009, amends the scope of the Plant Protection Products Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009. The amendments are found in Article 47 of the regulation on fertilising products.

The new updated uniform principles must be applied after 21 November 2024, but may be applied voluntarily already now. If the new updated data requirements according to regulation (EU) No 284/2011 are used, the new updated uniform principles must also be applied. Directive on sustainable use of pesticides

Directive (EC) 2009/128 of the European Parliament and of the Council on sustainable use of pesticides External link. (Last consolidated 26 July 2019).

The Directive is implemented in the Swedish Pesticide Ordinance (2014:425) and in KIFS 2022:3 and in other Regulations from the Swedish Board of Agricultur and the Swedish Environmental Agency.
