Rules for Biocidal Products

The making available on the market and use of biocidal products is regulated in the EU Biocidal Products Regulation, and during a transitional period also in Swedish legislation. The aim of the Biocidal Products Regulation is to harmonise the rules on the supply and use of biocidal products and at the same time ensure a high level of protection for human health, animals and the environment. These provisions are based on the precautionary principle. The main rule is that biocidal products must be authorised before they can be made available on the market and used.
