The EU Directive on sulphur exist to reduce the emissions of sulphur oxide from ships and to restrict the sulphur content in marine fuel. According to the Directive, the sulphur content in vessel fuel must not exceed 0.1 percentage in the Baltic Sea, the North Sea and the English Channel.
