Articles and chemical products sold to consumers must not pose a risk to human health and safety. This is the overall principle stated in the Product Safety Directive. These rules apply when there is no other specific legislation for regulating the risk.

Supplementary Swedish legislation
According to the Product Safety Act, companies that have sold dangerous products and services have to notify this to the Swedish Consumer Agency. Consumers may also notify the Swedish Consumer Agency of any harmful articles or services they have encountered.
