The chemical agencies in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden the Faeroe Islands are represented in the Nordic Council of Ministers' Chemicals Group (NKG).
A sum of five million Danisk kroner is allocated each year to different chemical projects, such as coordination of test methods, products registers and chemical monitoring.
Cooperation also takes place in the areas of biocides, plant protection products, classification and labelling, risk management and risk assessment.
Norway and the Norwegian Pollution Control Authority is chairing the Nordic chemicals group in 2010 and the Icelandic Environment and Food Agency holds the secretary function.

The Nordic Council of Ministers was financing the first negotiating meeting for a global agreement on limiting the use of mercury, hosted by the Ministry of Environment on 7-11 June 2010 in Stockholm.
