Nanotechnology - large risks with tiny particles?

- “The combination of the rapid development in the area of nanotechnology and the lack of knowledge concerning the risks to humans and the environment is worrying. A strategy for nanotechnology, which includes research on health and environmental risks, needs to be devised without delay”, says Ethel Forsberg, Director-General of KemI.

-“KemI has been requested by the European Commission to evaluate the risks to humans and the environment from using, for instance, silver at nano scale. This illustrates what a burning issue it is”, she concludes.
