Consumers´right to know about the content of hazardous substances in articles

Consumers have the right to request information about the content of hazardous substances in articles. This is stated in the REACH Regulation, Article 33, which concerns suppliers´ duty to communicate information on substances in articles.

Suppliers of articles which contain substances on the Candidate List in a concentration above 0.1% (w/w) have to provide sufficient information to allow safe use of the article to their customers or upon request, to a consumer within 45 days of the receipt of the request. This information must contain as a minimum the name of the substance.

The Candidate List contains Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) and is regularly updated on the website of the European Chemicals Agency, ECHA. Read about the Candidate List.

The Swedish Chemicals Agency has designed an information sheet that consumers can use to ask for information about a certain article.
